What are Anticoagulants?

Anticoagulants are medications that prevent blood clotting. These agents are administered in situations where the patient is at a higher risk of clot formation and embolization, such as in cases of arrhythmias (e.g., atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter), prosthetic heart valves, reduced mobility due to critical conditions or impending surgery, and ischemic heart disease to prevent cardiovascular events like myocardial infarction or stroke.

Anticoagulants Classification

There are three main types of anticoagulants:

  • 1. Heparins
    • Unfractionated heparin (subcutaneous or intravenous routes of administration)
    • Low-molecular-weight heparin: Enoxaparin (subcutaneous or intravenous routes of administration)
    • Pentasaccharide: Fondaparinux (subcutaneous route of administration)
  • 2. Non-vitamin K antagonist direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs)
    • Direct thrombin (factor IIa) inhibitor: Dabigatran
    • Factor Xa inhibitors: Rivaroxaban, Apixaban, Edoxaban
  • 3. Vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants
    • Vitamin K antagonist: Warfarin

Anticoagulant Management

The duration of anticoagulant therapy can vary, ranging from short-term use to lifelong administration. Patients on anticoagulants may need to periodically check their coagulation status, depending on the specific anticoagulant used. Some anticoagulants require meticulous monitoring, while others necessitate less frequent oversight.

There are numerous strategies for managing anticoagulant therapy, including dose adjustments due to interactions with certain drugs and foods, and temporary interruption of therapy for surgical or procedural needs. These strategies are tailored to each specific drug. We have developed an application designed to assist healthcare providers by providing quick and easy access to information necessary for managing anticoagulant therapy, which could also be invaluable in emergency situations.

Anticoag360+ Application

Anticoag360+ is a mobile/tablet application that provides clear information based on guidelines to help healthcare professionals effectively manage anticoagulation medications. Our application provides thorough information about anticoagulants including:

  • - Indications of anticoagulant administration, preferred anticoagulant and the dose based on the patient’s specific demographics features and medical conditions and current medications.
  • - Periprocedural management, in case of upcoming procedure for patients on anticoagulants, managing interruption, bridging, and restarting anticoagulants based on the type of procedure, the type of anticoagulant and the patient’s condition.
  • - Drug interaction, in case of the need for concomitant drug administration.
The information provided in this application gets updated on regular basis and is according to the latest guidelines.

Revolutionizing Anticoagulation Management

Anticoag360+ is a cutting-edge application designed to simplify and enhance anticoagulation therapy for healthcare providers. By combining advanced technology with clinical expertise, it delivers real-time, evidence-based recommendations that empower providers to make confident decisions, improve patient safety, and optimize workflows.

Continuous Innovation and Development

The development of Anticoag360+ has been driven by continuous feedback and rigorous refinement, resulting in three advanced prototype versions. Each iteration has introduced new features, enhanced usability, and addressed the real-world challenges faced by clinicians, ensuring the app evolves to meet the dynamic needs of healthcare professionals.

Key Milestones in Development

The current platform is the third edition of the application, and it is the result of updating two previous versions within the last two years. As a result, it is the most advanced iteration, designed for seamless integration into clinical workflows:

  • • Core Features:
    • o Peri-Procedural Management Tool: Provides detailed guidance on when to discontinue, bridge, or restart anticoagulants, considering procedural bleeding risks and patient-specific conditions.
    • o A refined user interface for smooth, intuitive navigation and real-time decision-making.
  • • Advancement: This version reflects the culmination of development efforts, delivering a comprehensive, user-friendly tool for managing complex anticoagulation cases.

Why Choose Anticoag360+?

Anticoag360+ is designed to address the critical gaps in anticoagulation management, offering unparalleled support for healthcare providers:

  • • Streamlined Decision-Making: Real-time, tailored recommendations simplify complex decisions, from initiating anticoagulation therapy to managing peri-procedural protocols.
  • • Comprehensive Safety Tools: A robust drug interaction and contraindication database ensures that patient safety remains a top priority.
  • • Optimized Clinical Workflows: Features are built to integrate seamlessly into daily practice, saving time and improving patient outcomes.
